Hillsboro, OregonHillsboro , Oregon is about 20 miles west of Portland. Even though Hillsboro is home to many "High Tech" businesses", it still remains a small town at heart. The downtown is an active area filled with many wonderful gift shops and small businesses. Hillsboro downtown is home to the historic Washington County Courthouse and the new Civic Center. Hillsboro West Shopping CenterLocated at SW Baseline and Main in Hillsboro, the West Shopping Center is home to a few antique and gift shops. The prices are much less than the downtown Portland/Sellwood areas and the variety is impressive. Krelly Designs &Co.Krelly's is a gift shop that boasts over 30 artists/designers. The vast majority of items are handcrafted. The store owner is Kelly Nicodemis-Miller. Although Kelly has many talents, she is famous for her bead, gem, and stone jewelry. Along with a large variety of jewelry, you can find great gifts, decor for your home and garden and furniture. the Courtyard WestGifts & AntiquesThe Courtyard West is home to 22 different vendors that specialize in quality handcrafts, specialty gifts, collectibles, antiques and home decor. This is a great little store for the collector. I have bought a few gifts here for the collectors in my family. As with many of the shops in Hillsboro, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Bruce and Linda Turk, the owners and shopkeepers, have years of experience and used to own a shop in downtown Hillsboro. Downtown HillsboroA lot has changed over the years in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon. The Washington County courthouse maintains it's location on 1st and Main, but much has changed. A new Civic center was built across the street from the courthouse. It boosts a beautiful fountain where children can play and a very large stairway where parents can rest after a Saturday morning or Tuesday evening stop at the farmers market. If you need a little caffeine to dust of some off some of your morning cobwebs, Starbucks is located at the bottom of the stairway on the corner of 1st and Main. Le'Stuff Antique MallLocated on Main Street in Hillsboro, Le'Stuff is a very large antique and collectible store. The quantity and variety is tremendous. You could spend hours in this store and still not see it all. Main Street BookThis is a little book shop located at 211 E Main in Hillsboro. The shop may be small, but the whole shop is filled with books from floor to just below the ceiling and from the front to the back. Main Street HomebrewWonderful smells and curious ingredients await you at Main Street Homebrew, 229 E Main in Hillsboro. The store has supplies for brewing your own beer, wine, bread, soda and more. I find it fascinating. Stratford HouseThis shop on the corner of Main and 2nd across the street from the Washington County Courthouse, 203 E Main, is both a "Tea Parlour" and retail shop in one. The tea parlor is very charming and wonderfully decorated especially around Christmas. If your looking for a little character with your tea or coffee, skip Starbucks and enjoy your break in the Stratford House dining area. The shop has home decor, gifts and fashion...some vintage, some vintage reproduction and some new. Aunt Addies's AtticI love this place not just for it's wonderful mix of vintage and not as vintage clothing, fabrics, jewelry and what not, but because the atmosphere is friendly. I've always been greeted warmly as soon as I enter the store. The store is small and well organized. She specializes in linens, fabrics, clothing and accessories, but the store also has a nice assortment of other collectibles and antiques. Aunt Addies is located off Main Street, 137 N.E Third Ave. The shop is open 10am-5pm M-Sat. I bought fat quarters to make pillows and wonderful 60's brooches in this store. Hillsboro Farmer's MarketMay 26, 2007 Pictures of the Farmers MarketIn May strawberries are just starting. You can get asparagus, flowers and starts for your gardens. The Saturday market has a whole block of handcrafted or home made/baked items as well. August 12, 2006 Pictures of the Farmers MarketSome very nice seasonal produce, great food and music can be found at the Hillsboro Farmers Market. We've been know to supplement our berry crop and peaches by picking up a box or two (or more) there. The farmers market in Hillsboro is in the downtown area on Saturday Morning (8am-1:30pm) and Tuesday evenings (5pm-8pm) May through October. They are located on Main and 2nd street in downtown around the Washington Country Courthouse and Civic Center. On Sunday, Orenco Station, just off Cornell, also has a farmers market.
